Stinkiness solved —
Several days ago, I entered my Throne Room in the morning to find myself assaulted with the odour of burnt electronics. A brief investigation, however, revealed no failure, so I reasoned that it must not have been anything important, and I forgot about it.
On Wednesday, there was a severe disturbance in the force. The battery in my 1 kVA UPS failed again, but instead of giving me a red light like it did the last time, this time, it failed quite catastrophically and went into an infinite loop of toggling its output on and off, so I had to take it totally offline until I could order a new battery. Then, a couple of hours later at work, the battery in my watch failed.
Now in receipt of a new battery, I set out to swap out the UPS battery only to discover that the battery had exploded, although fortunately, the explosion didn't result in a hull breach. I'm guessing the funny smell is related....
